The NTA (National Testing Agency) has recently announced a reduction in the syllabus. They’ve taken out some chapters, mainly from the Chemistry section, to sync up with what Class 11 and 12 students study in their NCERT books.
The head of NTA, Director General Subodh Kumar Singh, mentioned that they had discussions with various educational boards to make this decision. A team of experts is currently fine-tuning the revised syllabus. Keep an eye out, because next week, they’ll not only release the updated syllabus but also announce the registration dates!
For the 2024 JEE Mains, there have been some adjustments made to the syllabus:
In Physics, the topics of Communication Systems and certain aspects of Experimental Skills have been omitted.
In Chemistry, several topics have been removed, including States of Matter, Surface Chemistry, s-Block Elements, Hydrogen, Environmental Chemistry, Polymers, Chemistry in Everyday Life, General Principles and Processes of Isolation of Metals, as well as discussions on Thomson and Rutherford’s atomic models and their limitations. Additionally, the focus on physical quantities and their measurements in Chemistry, precision, accuracy, and significant figures has been reduced.
In Mathematics, the concepts of Mathematical Reasoning and Mathematical Inductions have been excluded, along with some content from Three Dimensional Geometry.
These changes aim to streamline the syllabus while ensuring that students are well-prepared for the JEE Mains examination in 2024.
