The city just set a brand-new Guinness World Record by lighting up over 2.22 million ‘Diyas’ (those cute earthen lamps) at ‘Deepotsav 2023.’ They totally outdid themselves from last year when they lit 1.576 million Diyas on Diwali eve.

International flair to Ayodhya’s Deepotsav

Artists from all around, like Sri Lanka, Nepal, and Russia, added some international flair to Ayodhya’s Deepotsav by showcasing their take on Ramleela. People in Ayodhya were thrilled watching the dramatic performance of Ramleela and giving big props to these global artists.

Guess who else joined the Diwali party? Prime Minister Modi! He sent out Diwali wishes to everyone and even headed to Lepcha in Himachal Pradesh to celebrate with the security forces. During his talk, he shared some heartfelt words, saying, “Ayodhya is where Lord Ram is, but for me, Ayodhya is where Indian Army personnel are.”

But that’s not all. PM Modi had a Diwali meeting with President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan. Talk about a festive power meeting!

And just in case you’re wondering, Diwali, the festival of lights, always falls on the new moon day in the month of Kartik. This time around, the magic happened on November 12. What a day!
