According to a security functionary, five people from the Kuki- Zomi community – four of whom are cousins of an Army dogface – were travelling in a vehicle when they were kidnapped by unknown culprits around 845 am, close to Kangchup Chinkhong, which is at the border of the Kuki- Zomi dominated Kangpokpi and Meitei- dominated Imphal West quarter.

The functionary stated that while one of the five was saved, the position of the rest continued to be unknown as of Tuesday evening.
